Sweet Sayings

Brynlee checked out a long story from the library at school which was due on Thursday.  We read about 15 minutes each night on it and still had about 1 hour's worth of reading left to finish it on Tuesday.  I was feeling so yucky with a fever, and talking would set off my coughing fits, but I knew how much it meant to her to finish this book before she had to return it in 2 days.  During family prayer, I prayed slowly and quietly (so I would start coughing).

Immediately after the prayer, Brynlee said,"Mommy, you're so sick.  I don't want you to have to read the book tonight.  You are more important to me than a book."

Oh!  What joy and tears it brought to my eyes to hear those sweet selfless words come from my 6 yr old!  It was the most thoughtful thing she has ever said in her life.

I told her how it special that made me feel and she replied,"I was thinking about it while you were saying prayer, that you're too sick.  It's okay Mom, I can just check it out again."

And so we did just that.
